Angolan releases 50 cent of his bling bling gold chain

How funny is this!? Industry gangsta 50 Cent plays at the Angolan International Peace Festival. During his performance a guy from the audience comes on stage and nicks his bling bling chain off his neck. What a gangsta is that?!

On Youtube you find the video evidence (minute 1:41), MTV.de and the New York Times cover the story.

Also, 50 Cent, “Kuck auf die Goldkette” (Kollegah)! – Or learn your leasson from President Bush (remember his visit to Tirana/Albania, where his watch was nicked – see Spiegel Video, of course the White House said it wasn’t).

Europe United – à la francaise

The federalist anthem “Europe United” performed by some federalists and a youth theatre group in Grenoble – wonderful. Europe à la francaise: decication, soul, inspiration, theatre… This video is sooooo great!

Check it out here.

Credits to Spinelli for having spent some of his best years on Ventotene and coming up with the famous manifesto there… to the Italian federalists for organising a fantastic seminar there each Septemer, to Anders, Jon and Malena for being inspired by this and writing Europe United – and to JEF France for lip serving to the federalist anthem together with the youth theatre of Grenoble! Fantastic.

Check your own energy consumption at home – easy game

The OwlI came across these practical tools in an article in today’s Economist. There are two devices which help you to check your energy consumption at home. The Owl and the Wattson are both connected to your power transmitter (Zähler) and then you can put a remote anywhere in your house/flat and see at what rate you currently consume electricity.

The owl is a bit of a smaller thing and comes at £49.95 (Green picture on top; direct order from their website). The Wattson is a bit more advance (reminds of B&O design, see photo below) and comes at £149.50 (direct order from their website).

While I was looking up these two devices I also came across a nice list of The Guardian’s Top 10 Green Gadgets. Maybe inspirational also for other aspects 🙂 And do not forget to check out Ecochoice.de if you want to compare the ecological parameters of your next consumer good buy.

Europe needs One President – campaign launch: WhoDoIcall.eu

Kissinger bannerRecent speculation about names for the post of EU “President” suggest media interest in names – but little thinking about the implications of the new job. As I have argued in an earlier comment, I am strongly convinced that only ONE President of the EU can improve institutional shortcomings and bring executive in line.

It was over a lunch the other day that Jon and me got this idea of launching a website campaign. It refers to Henry Kissinger’s famous quote “Who do I call when I want to talk to Europe?”. Please check out our website www.WhoDoIcall.eu and sign up if you agree with us that this institutional solution makes so much more sense than speculations (and negative campaigns) about individuals.

There is also a Facebook group and Cause to join and support the idea!

Hier kommt Pinneberg

Pinneberg Video Screenshot

Guckstdu!

Sofia at daylight

ich: do you have international newspaper?
er: we have Daily Telegraph, but newspaper of today – come tomorrow
ich: Financial Times?
er: No, is sold.
ich: German newspaper?
er: Maybe tomorrow come BILD

JEF beams The Daily European from 2057

Daily European cover bigEuropean century or European decline? Read JEF’s “The Daily European” from 2057!

Today, the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) present The Daily European to the members of the European Parliament’s Constitutional Affairs Committee (AFCO) and to European media. The Daily European newspaper has been beamed to Brussels from the year 2057. Ironically, there are two versions of the newspaper: one from a disintegrated Europe and the other from a flourishing Europe in 2057. Whichever one of the two versions will be reality in 2057 very much depends on the path chosen in 2007. – Constitutional ambition or European decline?

”Retired JEF activists in 2057 have been invited to look back at Europe in the time around 2007. Their experience Continue reading

10 Euro Radio AktionDas deutsche Radio liefert Unterhaltung vom feinsten:

5 to 12 – Europe is waiting, action in Berlin

Berlin SiegessäuleThis afternoon a huge banner was put on Berlin’s Siegessäule. It read: “5to12 – Europe is waiting”. The action was a clear sign to the heads of government meeting in Berlin this weekend to move forward with an ambitious Constitutional project.

There is also a website for the action, where photos can be downloaded. The symbolic photo gallery is also showing photos of famous clocks from all over Europe – standing at 5 to 12 – and waiting for Europe to deliver.

Check out for pictures from this brilliant action at www.5to12.eu

Berliner Zeitung covered the action as well (their photo is not online unfortunately).

At the same day JEF activists demonstrated in Rome at the parliamentary meeting celebrating the EU’s 50th birthday. For the rest of the day the activists for gathering signatures for the referendum campaign. To everyone’s surprise Valery Giscard d’Estaing turned up, took the petition and returned it signed some minutes later. – If he had only supported the referendum in 2003…
